Riva Modeling Systems Inc. is a leading supplier of software solutions for advanced asset management, including Asset Optimization /Decision Support, Asset Investment Planning, Enterprise Inventory, Valuation / Depreciation, and Asset Settlement.
The RIVA (Real-time Infrastructure Valuation Analysis) platform, now in Version 4.2, came into being in the mid 2000s, created by Riva's founder Ian Woodbury. At that time Ian was developing asset management practices for the municipal sector. He recognized a gap between operational asset management and long range planning that inspired him to begin building software tools for converting asset data into actionable information.
At the outset Ian recognized a key deficiency in the few existing asset management software products, a complete lack of integration between Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, Maintenance Management software (MMS) and Geospatial (GIS) software. So he built integration into the core of the Riva platform. Consequently, Riva is unparalleled in its ability to connect with and exchange data between SAP, Oracle, ESRI, Microsoft, Intergraph, and nearly every other enterprise level software system. This integration allows for real-time interaction with your data which is essential functionality in a useful asset planning software system.
The second major issue was that existing products forced companies to change their business practices to those dictated by the software, often with disastrous results. Ian took the opposite approach and built Riva to be a flexible system, configurable to any existing methodology and business practice.
